Teacher Requests

Class placements for the 2018/19 school year will be made later this spring. Your child’s current teacher and Mr. Martini will be involved in the placement process, and much thought and care is given to placing students where they will be most successful. When students are placed in classrooms, we look at several factors. Student learning styles, classroom gender balance, heterogeneous grouping, IMAGE, Advanced Math and special education placements are all considered.
We encourage parents to only make a request when there are educational reasons for the request.
If you feel a request is necessary, forms are available in the office. Requests need to state an educational concern and be returned to the office by Friday, April 27, 2018.

Sixth Grade Passion Projects

Our 6th grade students’ passion projects are underway. Now that we know the focus of more of these projects, we are finding we are in need of some guidance, tools and resources.
Only a small time commitment is requested, if you’re willing to help. We could use mentors in the following areas:
Baking, basketball, photography, guitar, coding, nursing, small animal vet, gardener, woodworking. We especially need help on Friday afternoons to help monitor students working on their projects in various spaces.
We could also use the following items:
Ingredients for baking, macaroon baking sheet, microphone, video camera, tripod, yarn for felting, 4x4 or 4x2 sections of wood, gardening shovels, racks, trimmers, money to buy butterfly garden seeds.
If you have any donations or are able to help, please contact one of our 6th grade teachers:

GMS Sports Physicals

The Middle School will be hosting sports physicals on May 8 and 10 from 5:30-7:30 PM for current 6th grade students who plan to participate in sports next year. These physicals will take place in the music wing. Watch for signs posted in the building when you arrive.

If your family is planning to move and your child will not be attending Cummings next year, please call our office at 254-6041 to let us know. This will help us out as we plan our class divisions for next year.
